Attempting to cook

This past week or so I've attempted to cook at home versus getting take out or delivery because there are so many people at our house all the time. Food for that many people gets pretty expensive. I have tried to make dishes such as fish tacos, and the other day we attempted a burger bar. I wish I had pictures to show. I had a garlic flavored burger topped with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, avocado, waffle fries, pickles, ketchup and mustard. It was delicious. This is definitely something we will try again.

Agave, "Rossing", and Great Movie Night

A little update: We've been ghettofied with a new pool. Don't hate because its fantastic to layout in when the weather is permitting. Unfortunately the ground it a little unlevel. Maybe that's something we should work towards fixing. I'm feeling a goal for a savings account.

My sister, Belle, came over yesterday and asked Juan and I to go out to eat with her at Agave, the restaurant my sister, Kristeen, works and her boyfriend, Ziggy. She looked so cute and I found it a great opportunity to wear one of my new "rossing" finds. We're on a tight budget since we just got an above ground pool, so I definitely needed to ask if we can afford it. Juan agreed and I was stoked. I'm so glad he likes to eat just as much as I do. Agave never disappoints. Its great that my sister and Ziggy work there. It totally sucks that they can't have drinks there on their days off. They have the best margaritas. Margaritas are not generally my first choice for an alcoholic beverage, but at this place I wouldn't have it any other way. Sorry again for the lack of documentation. Since Juan may think I'm pregnant, I refrained myself from having a cocktail (this is the 2nd week in a row). Its almost time for me to take a pregnancy test, so stay tuned for the results.

Here is the fab find from "rossing". Definition of "rossing": shopping on a budget at a discount store like Ross, Marshalls, or TJmaxx. It can also be done at Forever 21, Target, or Walmart. In this particular "rossing" situation I was on a 2 item budget. I bought 2 dresses for $12.99 each.

This is the other fab find. Sorry for the poor pic taking. I took it by myself in the dresssing room mirror. Until next time.

Movie party with Bubba

Tonight I got to spend the evening hanging out with Madilyn (aka Bubba). It was fun and exhausting all at the same time. I'm sure most of you have experienced this feeling hanging out with 4 year olds. Anyways, we watch Hotel for Dogs (on of Tobi's favs), Igor, and Avatar. Here are a few pics of the night.

Wednesday is the new Sunday

Not much to report today. As everyone is celebrating hump day and cinco de Mayo, I am approaching the end of my weekend. Juan goes back to work tomorrow, and I have to run errands and clean as well as work. We had a very productive day. I finally got my name changed on my driver's license as well as the bank account. Next on my list is my nursing license.

Since we've been out for almost every meal since Sunday evening, I asked Juan to make me his famous ribs. They were oh so wonderful.

We also had potatoes...

...and beans.

I know so far all my posts are about food, but as I always tell Juan, "The way to my heart is through my mouth." Have a good evening everyone.

Great food with great company

Nothing beats great food with great company. Tonight Juan and I met up with my cousin (who's in town from med school in the carribean), her husband and daughter, and my sister and her friend at Sake Toro. Sake Toro has the best sushi I've ever had in the metroplex. They say its Vegas-style sushi, but I have no idea what that means. I wish I took pictures, but I completely forgot about my camera. I'll try to remember to take more pictures.

Anyways, I highly recommend this place to any sushi lovers. Have a good night everyone.

Loving Mondays

Most people dread Mondays, but I don't. Monday is my favorite day out of the week. I'm a home health nurse (for now) so I can arrange my patient visits as I please. My husband is also a nurse, but he works in the hospital in addition to home health. Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays are his days off. Sunday he uses to catch up on sleep, and Wednesday he uses to relax before heading back to work on Thursday. Monday is our designated day together.

Today is way to good of a Monday not to blog about. My days always start off with a patient visit at 0730. When I went back home, my husband and I geared up the dogs and went to the dog park. I love taking the dogs to the dog park because it gives them a chance to get rid of all that extra engery they tend to store up. However, I've only been to 1 dog park in the area (North Dallas). If you know of any excellent, gated dog parks please let me know.

After the visit to the dog park the dogs were nice and calm. I figured that it was a perfect time to go to Petco with the dogs. We ventured through all the dog aisles (including the raw hide aisle). It was the first experience I had at Petco (with the dogs) without looking like a walking, talking circus! I was quite proud of them. As soon as we arrived at home, the dogs got a nice bath and were ready for a nap. This was perfect timing! It was about lunch time and time to see my patient in Allen.

I had a quick visit with my patient. Juan happen to be with me this time so we went straight to lunch. Juan and I were brave enough to venture out to the Village of Fairview or Fairgate off of Stacy Rd. and Highway 75. We generally stick to our normal restaurants, but I wanted to try something new and a restaurant with oysters. Just our luck, there was a place called Nate's seafood and steakhouse. We were more interested in the seafood. This place is quite charming. It reminds me of Joe's crab shack without the loud colors. They had the oysters I wanted on the menu and crawfish. I felt like I was in heaven. To all of you guys that don't know me, crawfish is 1 of my favorite foods in addition to pickles...not together of course. I left this place so satisfied that I had to take a nap as soon as I got home.

After my nap I had my last patient visit of the day. This place is 1.5 minutes from my house so I never complain about going there. This was yet again another quick visit then I went straight home. I had a little bit of extra time to hang out and watch some television while Juan took a nap. When he woke up we were still full from lunch. We decided to have a light dinner and watch a movie. Papa Murphy's is the easiest way to go. They have the best pizza in the area and are reasonably priced. While the pizza was being made we ran next door to grab a movie, Its Complicated. Juan through the pizza in the oven and put on the movie as soon as we got home (I know we come and go from our house a lot). The pizza we order was a Mediterranean style thin crust. I don't think I will be ordering it again. I was not prepared for all of the olive oil and feta cheese it had. If you love feta cheese this pizza is for you. It was recommended to me by my sister, Belle, but its just not my style. Normally I would be upset that I didn't get a full dinner, but since I had an overly satisfying lunch it didn't bother me. We headed out (yet again) to get some dessert.

The dessert place of choice was Escape coffee house. I orded a peach snow with pearls and Juan had a coconut mocha. Both delicious. What a great ending to a wonderful Monday!

What made your Monday so great? If Monday isn't your favorite day out of the week, what is and why?
